Our students at Union Grove Elementary had a blast celebrating Read Across America Week! Thanks to the generosity of the Blount County Education Foundation and Six Mile Baptist Church, every student got to select a free book of their own to take home.
A huge shoutout to our WBHS Teaching as a Profession students for visiting and reading to our younger learners—it’s amazing to see our high schoolers mentoring the next generation! We are so grateful for our community partners who help make academic growth a priority for every child.

The Tennessee Department of Education has recognized our schools for their dedication to student growth and achievement: ✨ Reward School Status: 6 of our schools earned this prestigious designation for being among the top-performing schools in the state. 📈 Level 5 Status: 6 of our schools achieved a Level 5—the highest possible score—for student growth. 🌟 The "Double Crown": A special shout-out to the 3 schools that achieved BOTH Reward School and Level 5 status! We are thrilled to announce that 2026 PreK & Kindergarten Registration will take place on Friday, April 10, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at all elementary school sites district-wide! 🏔️📚
Whether your little one is joining the Class of 2039 or 2040, we are ready to welcome you into the BCS family with open arms.
What you need to know:
✅ Greater Flexibility: No registration by last name this year—visit your school anytime during the 8 AM – 2 PM window!
✅ Unified Process: We’ve streamlined our forms for a more consistent, informative experience for every family.
✅ Planning Ahead: You will receive your student's specific staggered start dates right at registration.
⚠️ Important Note: There will be no school for current PreK and Kindergarten students on April 10 to allow our staff to focus on welcoming our newest learners.

Blount County Schools will discuss information on the Vocational Rehabilitation Program for the January Parent Information Night from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 831 Grandview Drive, Maryville, TN. The program supports individuals in employment as well as independent living through career readiness training.
