Visitors:

 

All visitors must sign in at the office and wear a visitor's badge after 7:45am. Parents are always welcome to visit our school.

School Hours:

 

Our school day is 7:45 am to 2:45 pm. Students should not arrive before 7:00 am. Students arriving between 7:00 and 7:30 am must report to the cafeteria. All car riders are dropped off and picked up in front of the school.

Please Note: The back loading area is reserved for Bus Only traffic.

Admissions:

 

Students entering school for the first time must have:

  1. Birth Certificate (original)

  2. Proper Immunizations - Green Card Required

  3. Physical and Dental Examination

  4. A child must be five years old by September 30th to enter Kindergarten

  5. Proof of residence

  6. Social Security Number

 

Pupils entering the Blount County System from another school system are to be assigned to the grade indicated by records from the sending school. In the event a pupil appears unable to do the work in the assigned grade, he/she may be reassigned by the Principal to another grade.

Student Transfers:

The following procedures should be followed when transferring from Porter to another school:

 

  1. The parent obtains the appropriate form from the office.

  2. When all books and materials are returned to the teachers, and any unpaid bills are cleared, the transfer slip is completed by the homeroom teacher and office staff.

  3. School records will be sent upon request from the receiving school.

Under the Tennessee State Board of Education’s Unsafe School Choice Policy, any public school student who is the victim of a violent crime as defined under Tennessee Code Annotated 40-38-111(g), or the attempt to commit one of these offenses as defined under Tennessee Code Annotated 39-12-101, shall be provided an opportunity to transfer to another grade-level appropriate school within the district.
