Porter Elementary School is located in the Wildwood Community of Eastern Blount County, Tennessee and situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains near the Little River. We are a school with community ties that go back 200 years to the original Porter Academy. As an elementary facility, we provide education in Kindergarten through 5th grades. We have adopted the Integrated Thematic Instruction [ITI] school model and strive to provide a caring, comfortable, and safe learning environment for our students. Porter Elementary serves a student population of approximately 800 students and maintains small student/teacher ratios of 20:1 for grades K through 3; and 22:1 for grades 4 and 5. We provide art, music, physical education, media, and guidance specialty instruction for our students. The staff and faculty strive to make children feel safe and cared for. A Blount County School Resource Officer [SRO] is on campus fulltime and our nurse is available after 9:30 am.
