Welcome to the Porter Elementary School website. Porter Elementary School is located in the Wildwood Community of Eastern Blount County, Tennessee and situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains near the Little River. We are a school with community ties that go back 200 years to the original Porter Academy. Please view our History page for more information.

As an elementary facility, we provide education in Kindergarten through 5th grades. We have adopted the Highly Effective Teaching [HET] school model and strive to provide a caring, comfortable, and safe learning environment where students feel good about themselves and are challenged to be their very best in all ways. Acting responsibly, feeling respected, and being safe are important components within our school. We are proud of our students' accomplishments and appreciate the support we receive from parents and the community. Additionally, Porter Elementary is fortunate to have a staff dedicated to providing children with meaningful learning experiences, which leads to a solid educational foundation.

Porter Elementary serves a student population of approximately 750 students and maintains small student/teacher ratios of 20:1 for grades K through 3; and 22:1 for grades 4 and 5. We provide art, music, physical education, media, and guidance specialty instruction for our students. A Blount County School Resource Officer [SRO] is available and our nurse is on duty after 9:00 am. At PES we endeavor to emphasize educational opportunities for students to excel in academics, the arts, physical education, social experiences, and community service. It is with the cooperation of students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff that this goal can be accomplished.
