Synopsis: The planets of the Solar System are discussed
in detail, including relative sizes and distances. Formation of the Solar
System and several moons are also introduced. Following the 37-minute automated
portion of the show, visitors will examine the current night sky, including
constellations, asterisms, and star clusters. The visit is concluded with
an audio-driven laser light show.
Objectives:
Grade Range: Ninth Grade and above, college, and the general public.
Pre-Planetarium Preparation: Test the students’ ability to name the planets in order, as well as their relative sizes and distances.
Post-Planetarium Projects: Teachers will be provided with a project sheet of related ideas to do with their students following their visit.
