"The Southern Fish"
History: The
Southern Fish is a little more than a Southern Hemisphere "mirror" of Pisces.
Some references claim that Piscis Austrinus is not Greek or Roman in origin,
but rather is the Syrian Goddess Atagartis -- the Goddess of Fertility
who fell into a lake near the Euphrates River and was saved by a large
fish (some sources claim she fell into the Euphrates River itself).
Interestingly, Piscis Austrinus is depicted as drinking the water being
poured from Aquarius. In some references, the Fish is what saves
the world from massive floods. To do this, the Fish consumes the
water to save the world!
