Norma (Nor)
"The Level"

Location:  R.A. = 16h. Dec. = 50 S

History:  Norma is another inconspicuous constellation in the Southern Hemisphere first described by Abbe Nicholas Louis de Lacaille during his sky mapping expedition of the South Celestial Sphere during the years 1751 through 1753.  As it is a new constellation, there is no classical mythology associated with this star group.  Originally recorded as "Norma et Regula" ("Square and Ruler"), this dim constellation was soon stripped of the Ruler and is simply called Norma today.
