Microscopium (Mic)
"The Microscope"

Location:  R.A. = 21h, Dec. = 35 S

History:  As its name probably suggests, this is a new constellation and therefore has no formal classical mythology associated with it.  It was first described by Abbe Nicholas Louis de Lacaille, who first mapped the Southern Hemisphere sky from the years 1751 to 1753.  Not only is Microscopium an obscure and inconspicuous constellation, it is also very dim, possessing stars no brighter than fifth magnitude.
