History: Truly an inconspicuous Southern sky constellation, lacking any bright stars. This constellation was first created by Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman, Dutch navigators, when they were surveying the Southern skies between 1595 and 1597. Since it is a modern constellation, there is no classical mythology associated with this star figure.
