Secret of the Cardboard Rocket
Running Time: 60 minutes
Albert Einstein said that “imagination is more important than knowledge,” and this program brings those words to life!
Embark on a celestial adventure with two children curious about space. With their cardboard rocket and a magic astronomy book they visit the worlds of our solar system, dodge asteroids, and learn about the sun and the moon.
With first through fourth graders in mind, this program addresses standardized test topics and is perfect as an introduction to the solar system or as a follow-up to reinforce those ideas. The “cardboard rocket” does visit Pluto, but because of its 2006 reclassification by the IAU, it is not referred to as the ninth planet. Rather, the three types of planets in our solar system are discussed.
Produced in cooperation with the Clark Planetarium, Secret of the Cardboard Rocket utilizes a mixture of 2-D and 3-D immersive animation, with special effects created at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch. Coupled with 5:1 surround sound, this show is great for the entire family.
The program concludes with a live look at the current night sky.
