The Little Star That Could

The Little Star That Could follows the adventures of a character named “Little Star.” Like all stars, Little Star is born from a cloud of gas and dust. He soon realizes that he is just an average yellow star and begins a quest to explore space. Along the way he meets many different types of stars, including double stars and star clusters, and finds out what makes them special. In his journey he even learns about the Milky Way Galaxy and how all the stars combine to form it.

Little Star wants planets of his own to nurture and warm and give him a name. After the booming voice of the Milky Way tells him he has had planets all along, Little Star squints and sees the many worlds orbiting him. He asks the planets to identify themselves, learning about them as they do. Finally, Little Star’s dreams come true when the planets tell him that his name is Sol and that they are his Solar System.

The Little Star That Could is an excellent and fun introduction to stars, the galaxy and the planets of the solar system.

The program concludes with a live look at the current night sky.
