Jake Jones

Assistant Director, Curriculum and Instruction


Jake Jones is the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Blount County Schools. In this role, he is responsible for the supervision and implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies for Pre-K thru 12th grade. Mr. Jones also coordinates the district’s efforts in the areas of federal projects, secondary education, assessment and data, and elementary education. Additionally, he is charged with coordinating the selection, ordering and distribution of textbook and instructional materials for all grade bands and subject areas.


He has served more than 20 years in Blount County Schools. Entire professional career in the Blount County School district. Prior to his current role, Mr. Jones filled positions as:


  • Principal, Heritage High School from 2015-2020;
  • Principal, Prospect Elementary School from 2011-2015;
  • Assistant Principal, Porter Elementary School Supervisor of Elementary Education and Federal Programs from 2006-2011;
  • Middle School Teacher at Heritage Middle School from 1998-2000; and,
  • Middle School Teacher at Porter School from 1998-2000.

 

Mr. Jones holds a Specialist in Education degree from Lincoln Memorial, as well as Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in education from The University of Tennessee.

 

He also leads several special projects for BCS, including: the district’s professional development, technology initiatives, curriculum alignment, and teacher leader development.
