William Blount High School has named Sam Taylor as this year’s valedictorian.
Taylor, son of Michael and Tresa Taylor, has served as the student representative for the Blount County Board of Education and was a member of Youth Leadership Blount. He played varsity baseball for four years and was a member of Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National English Honor Society and the Senior Athletic Leadership Team. Taylor participated in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for four years and served as vice president. He qualified for national FBLA competition in marketing during his senior year. Taylor plans to attend Duke University and major in physics.
Emily Griffin, daughter of Thomas and Dana Griffin, was named this year’s salutatorian.
She played varsity tennis for four years and participated in the Model United Nations for four years, winning best delegate in a committee twice. She was selected to participate in the Tennessee Governor’s School for International Studies. Griffin earned Daily Times Academic Letters each of her four years of high school. Griffin plans to attend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and major in political science.
