Dear Parents,
May this letter serve as an additional notice that under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 high schools receiving federal funds are required to provide military recruiters (upon request) with the names, addresses, and telephone listings of 11th and 12th grade students. Schools are also directed to give military recruiters the same access to students on campus as is given to colleges and prospective employers. Information about such directory information is available in the HHS student handbook.
The purpose of this letter is to notify parents of their right to file notification with the school requesting that directory information (names, addresses, telephone numbers) for their son or daughter not be released to military recruiters, colleges/universities, and prospective employers.
Any parent or student wishing to refuse disclosure of any or all of the designated directory information must file written notification to this effect with the principal. In the even that a written refusal is not filed, this institution assumes that neither a parent nor an eligible student objects to the release of the directory information designated.
Parents may send a written notice regarding the release of directory information (name, telephone number, address) to military recruiters, colleges/universities, and prospective employers to Mrs. Patricia Mandigo, Principal, Heritage High School, 3741 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804. The letter may be mailed or turned in to Mrs. Mandigo in the main office.
If you have questions regarding the release of directory information, please contact an administrator at Heritage High School (984-8110).
