Deputy Squadron Commander
The main part of the job is to check on the Squadron Commander and keep him/ her informed of all happenings. Everything the Squadron Commander does requires you to check to make sure it is done correctly before it is handed into the instructors. The Deputy Commander has to keep the Squadron Commander informed on all future activities. As the Deputy Commander you have the ability to help the Squadron Commander in the decision making process.
Along with the many responsibilities of the Deputy Commander you also have to make sure the rules are obeyed.
Choose your Project Officers carefully, include the Squadron Commander on your decision and make sure you agree. Choose someone who can handle the task and someone who is willing to do the job. Also take into consideration the status of everyone’s current jobs. If they already have 2 or 3 projects going on then it wouldn’t be wise to assign it to them.
Start planning the Cadet of the Quarter Board well in advance and make sure to check their questions before typing them up and submitting them to Chief or Colonel. Let your board members know as soon as you set the date and make a deadline to turn in their questions AT LEAST two weeks before the date to have time to type them up and have them approved. Make sure the board members know what time and day the board is and that they can be there or they have someone to be there in their place. Make sure the cadets meeting the board know when it is and what uniform combination they must be wearing and that they WILL BE THERE!!
