Important facts:

One in four american adults are afflicted with a mental illness.

One in seventeen are afflicted with a serious mental illness.

5-6 million workers ages 16-54 are unemployed because of mental illness.

Amoung those who work, annual income decreases $3500-6000.

Overall impact:

Mental illness causes adverse impacts on the economy. The direct cost

of madness is about 55 billion dollars a year. The indirect costs, such as: loss of

employment, decrease of productivity, accidents, and social welfare drain our

economy of 273 billion dollars a year.
