Course Description: The students will participate in a variety of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities to deepen their understanding of the French language and culture. French II begins the study of the past tense, the imperfect tense, and reflexive verbs. We will also review and build upon present tense verb forms. Student grades will be determined by the total points accumulated from:
- Listening comprehension and grammar quizzes
- Weekly homework
- Skits and dialogues
- Webquests
- Francophone history project
- Unit exams
- Final exam-20%

How can you help your student, even if you don't know how to speak French?
- Ask your student if they have completed their weekly homework! Every Monday, I give my students a homework menu from which they choose their assignments. Homework is due on Friday and is graded on completion. Homework helps foreign language students retain necessary vocabulary and concepts they hear and learn in class. I don't like busy work, and I don't assign busy work.
- McDougall-Littell, our textbook publisher, has a website www.classzone.com. Go to high school world languages in the state of Tennessee. Then choose our textbook Discovering French Blanc. This website has interactive quizzes and on-line workbook exercises.
- I stay after school on Mondays and Wednesdays for tutoring. As long as your student comes to tutoring, he/she can retake a quiz or exam.
- Good attendance is essential for progress in any foreign language class. What we learn today will be a building block to future grammar. If your student misses a piece of the puzzle because of excessive absences, he/she will fall behind and struggle to catch up.
