Kindergarten Summer Readiness Experience

Kindergarten registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Friday, April 25, 2008. Registration will be conducted at all Blount County Elementary Schools. An appointment will be made at Registration for Kindergarten Screening.

Children who will be five (5) years old by September 30, 2008 will register for kindergarten. Kindergarten is required prior to entrance into first grade. The State of Tennessee mandates this requirement.

It is not necessary for children to be with their parents to register. Parents/Adults are asked to bring the following documents:

  1. Proof of residence for their school district. This may be a utility bill, payroll check stub, rent/house payment receipt, etc.
  2. A certified State Birth Certificate (not a hospital or mother's copy). For additional information, contact the Blount County Health Department at 983-4582
  3. Your child's Social Security card.
  4. Your child must have a complete physical and dental check-up.
  5. A completed Green TN Child Health Record; This card can be obtained from the Health Dept. or your Health Care Provider and must be completed with all required immunizations. The Health Examination section of the TN Green Card must be signed by your Medical provider and proof of dental exam must be provided with a statement of dental health. If your child has an incomplete shot record, he/she MUST have a VALID TEMPORARY RECORD.

NOTE: Children who have attended one of the Pre-School programs in Blount County DO NOT need to have another physical before entering Kindergarten.

If the above items are not available at the time of registration, please register your child anyway. However, these items need to be secured as soon as possible and will be required in order for your child to enter Kindergarten.

All students who will be attending BCS Kindergarten
for 2008-2009 are invited to join in for learning
ABC's, 123's, and Making Friends

Parents are encouraged to fill out an application at the Kindergarten Registration on Friday, April 25. You may also enroll during the Kindergarten Screening or the Kindergarten Parents Night held at your child's school.
