Townsend Elementary School is located in Townsend, Tennessee,  a river and mountain community that serves as an entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Townsend is nick-named the "Peaceful Side of the Smokies," even with all the tourists that visit every year! It is a beautiful area that is continuously growing and changing.
     Townsend School was originally a high school which eventually became an elementary school. Our new building was completed in 1993. We have approximately 150 students in our Kindergarten through fifth grades and our pre-school program.
     Townsend Elementary is a small school that benefits from a lot
of community support as well as a caring faculty and staff. We are very proud of our school and community.
