Fornax (For)
"The Furnace"

Location:  R.A. = 3h, Dec. = 30 S

History:  This is obviously a newer constellation, and therefore has no classical mythology associated with it.  Like many of the Southern Hemisphere constellations, it was first imagined by Abbe Nicholas Louis de Lacaille who mapped the Southern Hemisphere stars from 1751 to 1753.  It was originally a chemical furnace, to acknowledge to success of Antoine Laurant Lavoisier, the French chemist.
