A Message From Your School Nurse |
| |
| Please help all our students stay healthy and safe this year by following some basic health rules and policies which are listed below: |
| |

VERY IMPORTATNT!! Complete all information requested on the Emergency Card and return it to your school IMMEDIATELY. Please be certain that the school has accurate telephone numbers to reach you or a person you designate in the event of illness or injury. If your home or work phone number changes during the course of the school year, please let the school staff know. |
|

Do not send a sick child to school. This includes vomiting/diarrhea, fever within the last 24 hours, chicken pox or other contagious diseases. If your child becomes ill or injured while at school, it is important to pick them up as soon as possible. |
|
|

LICE: Children who have lice may not attend school until they have been properly treated. The only 100% effective treatment for lice is the complete removal of all nits. Children will be checked on arrival to school after being absent due to lice and will be sent home if hair has not been adequately treated. This is necessary to prevent the spread of lice to large numbers of children. Students should be reminded not to share combs, brushes, headbands, barrettes, caps or hats, and coats or jackets. It is recommended that parents check students regularly for the presence of lice and/or nits.

MEDICATIONS (prescriptions or non-prescription) will not be given until the proper forms have been completed. Medications must be in the original container and properly labeled with the child's name. NO medications sent in plastic baggies, envelopes, etc, will be given. Please give medications at home when possible. Medications to be given regularly at school should be sent at the first of each month. Please send only enough medication for one month at a time. At no time will medication be sent back home with a child. An adult will need to come to school to pick medication up if is is discontinued or if there is extra medication at the end of the school year.
