I
Love to Read In our current society, books often lose out to the electronic charms of television, video, and computer games and the movies. Children (and most adults) would rather watch the movie adaptation than read the original book. That's why our school had decided to participant in "I Love to Read." We believe this program will help our students experience the joys and benefits offered by books, encouraging them to develop a life-long passion for reading. "I Love to Read" won't take up a lot of your time. Parents are encouraged to participate in the program by reading to or with their child, but you are not required to do so. All you have to do is sign the Bookkeeper Card every time your child reads (or is read to) for two hours and list the titles of the books read on the back of the card. When signed, your child returns the card to their teacher for a special reward. It will not cost you any money to participate in "I Love to Read." Our school has covered the entire expense of the program. The only cost to you will be a few minutes of your time, but the outcome could be a child who will love to read for life. I think your child will enjoy participating in "I Love to Read." If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 982-0630. Sincerely,
