Principal
Points to Ponder
A recent article in the Knoxville News Sentinel warns
parents that kid's TV shows and movies tend to be very fast paced and
may
hamper children's ability to focus attention. It
is for sure that educators have noticed a dramatic
increase in the
number of students with ADD and ADHD over the past twenty years. The question is what caused these attention
problems. Could it be TV, movies,
videos, preservatives in our food? No
one seems to know for sure. We do know
that playing outside, being involved in music, art, dance and sports
and
increasing the fruits and vegetables and water in our diets results in
healthier individuals. Just some points
to ponder!

MITTEN TREE
Just a reminder to all parents and
students,
our first
annual Mitten Tree is underway! If
you wish to participate in this program,
please send new winter hats, mittens, gloves, or scarves to the school. Any size, color or design will be accepted. All items will go to local children in need,
are not as fortunate, and would go without these needed accessories
during the
winter season. You and your child(ren)
can see the donated items displayed on the Mitten
Tree in the front lobby of the
school. There is a donation box located
right next to the tree so your child(ren) can drop their ornament of
winter
warmth in the box and see their donation proudly displayed the Mitten Tree within a day or two. We
hope you have a happy and warm holiday
season. We know that many otherwise
unfortunate children will also celebrate in the warmth of the season
with your
help.
Sincerely, 2007 Blount County Social
